About the Mommy Makeover
After having a baby, your body may not bounce back to its pre-pregnancy shape. At Dr. A Jay Burns Cosmetic Surgery, we offer the mommy makeover, which is a combination of liposuction and skin tightening procedures performed in tandem to reshape the breasts, tummy, lower back, buttock, or any other area affected by pregnancy, weight loss, and nursing. Dallas, TX Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr. A Jay Burns consults with women regularly who desire to once again attain a tighter, slimmer, smoother figure with the mommy makeover procedure.
We also have nonsurgical treatments that can compliment your mommy makeover to address the aesthetics of your skin from wrinkles, cellulite, stretch marks, and more. We agree that childbirth is miraculous, even when it can negatively impact the look, shape, and size of your feminine body parts and curves. Dr. Burns can help you enjoy your post-baby body with a mommy makeover. Please call and schedule a consultation today to get started!
Ideal candidates for a mommy makeover procedure are those who have completed childbearing and who have tried to attain a slimmer, tighter figure through diet and exercise. Unfortunately, in some cases, surgery is necessary to regain a pre-pregnancy shape. If you have completed childbearing and are unhappy with the effects left behind, such as sagging, deflated breast, loose skin in the abdomen, unwanted fat in the flanks or lower back, or hanging, wrinkled skin in the buttock, this procedure may be an option for you. If you are uncertain whether you will have future children, this can be discussed during the consultation. The goal with this surgery is to regain your pre-pregnancy body without comprising the surgical results with additional pregnancies.
"My husband and I have met with several pediatric plastic surgeons over the course of the past two years. Dr. Burns is by far the best of the group. Our son is still a few years out from having his surgery, however, I wanted to express how much I love Dr. Burns! He has been so extremely caring and has answered all my questions and made me feel like he truly cares about our little man. I never felt rushed when meeting with him and he made it very clear that if we felt we needed to see him again before our next yearly appointment, his door was always open. The other surgeons we met with may be great surgeons as well, but, Dr. Burn made me feel like my son was his only patient. His demeanor and caring personality make him the best fit for our family. I know our son will be in good hands when the time comes for surgery."- F.S. / Facebook / Aug 16, 2017

Plan Your Procedure
- Procedure Recovery Location
- In or Outpatient
A mommy makeover is a custom surgery, tailored for each patient based on her specific needs. The most common procedures performed are breast lift surgery, breast implants, abdominoplasty, liposuction, and in some cases, a lower body lift. All of these surgeries are performed under general anesthesia and the surgery can take anywhere from 3 – 7 hours. If a combination of procedures are taking place, you will most likely spend a couple of nights in the hospital. After surgery, to create the pre-pregnancy glow you once had, many nonsurgical methods can be used, such as a laser treatment for pigmentation, melasma, and stretch marks, as well as an injectable to soften any fine lines or hollow areas on the face to create an overall rejuvenated look.
What to Expect
A mommy makeover is an invasive procedure and can cover a large portion of the body. Once released from the hospital, the recovery process will begin at home and will start with plenty of rest, as well as wearing compression garments to help control swelling. The recovery phase can be a slow process. Walking upright will be difficult the first couple of weeks, and a thorough at-home treatment protocol will be necessary to ensure the incisions heal effectively. Depending on the surgery or number of procedures performed, the recovery phase could last up to 6 months. Most patients are able to resume a normal routine, however, in about 3 – 4 weeks and start slowly back to exercise within 2 months. Women who have had this surgery love the way they look and feel once healed. They are thrilled to reclaim their figure and shape, as well as regain their self-confidence.
